Tucquan Glen Nature Preserve’s current high rate of use is damaging the land and working against the Lancaster County Conservancy’s (LCC) stewardship mission: to carefully manage our lands for the health of the ecosystem, the enjoyment of the public, and the benefit of Lancaster County. Overuse of the land is impacting the vegetation vital to soil stabilization and health, which could cause erosion and damage to nearby streams. When eroded sediments enter streams, local fish and wildlife populations are negatively impacted.
The Conservancy works hard to protect our limited natural lands and we have been able to acquire several nature preserves within a few miles of Tucquan Glen that offer equivalent scenes of near-pristine nature and wildlife. If you plan a trip to Tucquan Glen but arrive to find the parking lots are full, consider visiting these nearby preserves.
