You can make a difference for our local cricks and creeks by cleaning up trash anywhere in our county! Keeping debris from entering our waterways is critical to ensuring our community has clean water for swimming, paddling, fishing, and drinking. Volunteer with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and partners at multiple locations to help Lancaster County work towards cleaner and healthier streams, rivers, and communities!

Project Clean Communities
Join the 2025 Project Clean Communities cleanup!
Since the first Lancaster Water Week in 2017, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and multiple partners have gathered at different locations throughout Lancaster County to remove trash from the water and along the banks of our streams and rivers. Plastic bottles and bags, a shopping cart, so many tires, and even an ill-fated ATM have been plucked from the water thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers.
Help out with our cleanup efforts this year by joining one of the sites listed below!

After the cleanups end, we’ll celebrate with snacks and new friends!
PLEASE NOTE: Volunteers should dress appropriately for the outdoors and possible weather. Long pants and closed toe shoes are strongly recommended. Please bring work gloves and trash grabbers if you have them. There is the potential for some shallow wading into streams for interested volunteers.
Thank You, Water Week Sponsors!
